Best Sedan for 2012 – Comparisons pt.2

Continuing from my previous post, here are more comparisons pertaining  to more specifications of the chosen cars:

1. Wheel Size

Renault Fluence, Neo Elantra, Honda Accord, Skoda New Laura, and Volkswagen Jetta have a wheel size of 16 inches each. Swift DZire Tour, Etios GD Safety, Skoda Rapid Active, and Swift DZire LXi have a wheel size of 14 inches. The sore loser in this specification is Hyundai Accent Executive, with a tyre size of 13 inches.

2. Wheel Type

All the cars with wheel size 16 inches, along with Tata Manza CS have alloy wheels. We all do love alloy wheels rather than the traditional Stainless Steel wheels, for sure.

3. Gearbox

Renault Fluence boasts of a 7-speed manual gearbox. Skoda New Laura has a 6-speed automatic. Neo Fluidic Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta, and Tata Manza CS have 6-speed manual gearbox. Those which lose out with the traditional 5-speed manual gearbox are: Swift DZire Tour, Swift DZire LXi, Etios GD Safety, Skoda Rapid Active, and Hyundai Accent Executive.

4. Tinted Glass

Having tinted glass by default is very important these days. Neo Fluidic Elantra has a Solar Tint, while Fluence, Accord, Jetta, Laura, Manza, Rapid, and Hyundai Accent Executive have a traditional tinted glass in its windows and wind screen. Swift DZire and Swift DZire Tour have a green tinted glass, which I personally dislike. Toyota Etios GD does not have window tints.

5. Remote Keyless Entry

Other than Elantra, Manza, Rapid, and Swift DZire, all other cars in the competition have a Remote Keyless Entry facility

6. Airbags

Fluence, Elantra, Accord, and Jetta have driver and passenger airbags. For Etios GD safety, this feature is optional

7. ABS

Fleunce, Elantra, Accord, Laura and Jetta have ABS feature in them. All others don’t. For Etios, it’s optional

8. Central Locking

Other than Manza and Swift DZire, all other cars have a Central Locking system

9. Radio

Other than Etios, Manza, Swift DZire, and Accent, all other cars have a radio installed in their base model

10. CD  Player

Other than Etios, Manza, Swift DZire, and Accent, all other cars have a CD/DVD player installed

11. Power Steering

My my! It seems that the Honda Accord Diesel does not have a power steering. How weird is that!

12. Fog Lamps

Fluence, Accord, Jetta, DZire Tour, and Manza have both front and rear Fog Lamps

So, which ones make the cut?

1. Renault Fluence Advantage Edition

Pros: Wheel Type – Alloy, Airbags – Present, Fog Lamps – Front and rear

Cons: None

2. Hyundai Neo Fluidic Elantra CRDi SX AT

Pros: Wheel Type – Alloy, Tinted Glass – Solar Type, Airbags – Present

Cons: Remote Keyless Entry – No

3. Honda Accord Diesel

Pros: Wheel Type – Alloy, Airbags – Yes, Fog Lamps – Front and rear

Cons: Power Steering – No

4. Skoda New Laura Elegance 2.0 TDI CR AT

Pros: Wheel Type – Alloy, Fog Lamps – Front and rear

Cons: None

5. Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L TDI Trendline

Pros: Wheel Type – Alloy, Airbags – Yes

Cons: None

6. Maruti Swift DZire Tour VDi
